Areas of interest of ourSanibel and potential committees:

...Implement a future that is consistent with our Vision Statement but recognizes that we are dramatically effected by outside influences and our stubborn resistance to any/all change is not working. To identify a strategy that manages our critical tourism business rather than simply being overwhelmed by it as we are now.

...To SPECIFICALLY identify areas to encourage visitation (like Ding Refuge and Old Sanibel), and sensitive areas to DISCOURAGE visitors.     

...The understanding that a thriving business community is CRITICAL to the mosaic that is Sanibel for tax/revenue purposes and quality of life for residents.

...Water management as applies to estuary, river quality, lake levels on and off season for farm needs and flood control.

... Committed to new recreation center for Sanibel.

...  Committed to upgrade shared use paths to SANIBEL standards not just Federal guidelines.

...  Co-operation with Lee County to devise a comprehensive transportation plan that benefits the residents, the environment we are dedicated to protect, AND the tourists who desire to visit here.

...    Participate in plan to re-plant Periwinkle Way.

...   Monitor City Council and Staff to insure they are aware of, and hopefully support our positions.

...  Oppose those who selfishly misrepresent the Sanibel Vision Statement to discourage others from owning or visiting here. With the recognition that Sanibel doesn’t exist exclusively for the rights of single family residence owners; that renters, businesses, visitors, and part time residents must have a voice too.

    ourSanibel is non-partisan but will endorse and oppose candidates for local office.
