Mr. Coy spoke on the water releases from Lake Okeechobee, and said that he felt the power of special interests was prohibiting water from being released to the south. Mr. Coy stated that he was in favor of taking whatever action, including a lawsuit if necessary, to move towards a speedy resolution of the problem. ........" It is imperative that the SFWMD and also the ACOE stop the releases immediately that are destroying our water quality and our estuaries. We cannot let this go on any longer. There has been way too much wait and see and way too much stalling. The protection of our rivers and the bays are crucial NOW. I am in favor of moving this issue to court immediately if the SFWMD and the ASCOE do not hear our cries. Our patience is waning , our tempers our hot , and the time to take a stand and be counted is now, not years down the road."

My opinion on the toxic water releases from Lake O is nothing if it is not strong and unambiguous. I've had enough and it's time to enter the court of law, our last hope for a fair playing field. The Lee Island Coast has been the scapegoat long enough. Enough is enough! Our fragile eco-system was not designed to take on such unprecedented levels of toxic nutrient-laden water. The threat to our environment, which has now become a public epidemic, if allowed to continue, will certainly lead to the decline, if not irreparable long-term damage to our economy. The only hope we have to fight on a fair and level playing field is in a court of law. We must authorize the best most experienced litigation team we can find to file our suit immediately! Delays, half measures, meetings and gentle talk isn't doing anything for us. I believe that the time to defend against this threat is NOW!

I am strongly in favor of any actions that can be taken against the SFWMD and the ASCOE releasing any quantity of tainted water into our estuaries or the Gulf of Mexico. It's about time we fish or cut bait with these folks. Obviously, all the previous talking with these agencies have had very little impact on them. The protection of our estuaries and the Gulf of Mexico is PARAMOUNT and definitely one of the top priorities to all of Lee County and I'm willing to stand up with you for the fight!
